Day 1: Flight & Arrival in Singapore
salam semua dari Singapura!
Day 1: we left Sac to drive to SF at 530am Thursday morning for an 1130 am flight.
We were ache to arrive in Singapore’s famous Chiangi Airport Friday evening around 7pm. That’s what a 17 hour flight and crossing the date line will do.
First off. Singapore Airlines. Phenomenal. Totally understand why it is consistently rated one of the top airlines in the world. But. That flight. This was brutal. Probably the hardest flight I’ve ever been on. 17 hours in a seat, minimal movement. Very taxing on the body, physically and mentally.
We hopped into a cab upon arrival, with the humidity slapping you the moment you walk off the plane. It’s a short jaunt into the center of this world hub City-State -
we got to see the Flyer,
the Marina Bay Sands hotel,
and tree city.
We’re staying on the river, just outside of the financial district and Chinatown, called the Clark Quay area. It’s historical, originally used as an outlet for boats prior to the marina. it’s nowmorohed into this entertain area…..think River Walk in San Antonio. Lots of shops, places to eat and drink, and recreational activities.
We had a late dinner here, followed by some Japanese ice cream at Tsujiri.
After walking the riverfront for a mile or so, taking in the sights, we’ve just got back to the hotel, ready to finally rest.
Happy Friday everyone, ciao!
