The Crocker Art Museum

Crocker Art Museum:

Not just a Museum set in one of the most photographed Victorian’s in all of Sacramento, but an events center that hosts “Home School Day” , “Historic Tours”, Art-as-health related activities (a lot of artist pain to share I’m sure!). There’s also ArtMix’s most famous called Prom. The most luxurious affair of the year is called Crocker Ball…each is a must see and do!

Art Mix: Prom- Another must do! Get Dressed up and enjoy a sophisticated night out with the besties. Thursday night Art Prom at the Crocker! Was a fun mid week event and an excuse to dress up. Had a lot of fun, they had pizzas (1 for 3 of us and I ate half lol). Beer and cocktails in some parts of museum, but ditched for time in the “slow mix” room and old Crocker art as I remember it. Overall, would do it again, and finding $25 reasons to present your finest and have good clean fun was A+ rating.

My last ArtMix we wandered and refreshed ourselves with the open exhibits and I found some impactful words for the books.

Architecture Tours

“Journey into art on view with docents to guide your visit. Enjoy a drop-in tour any day the Museum is open, or plan ahead.

Uncover the artistry behind the Crocker Art Museum's architecture on this 90-minute docent-led tour. Explore the ways that the Museum's historic Italianate and 21st-century structures complement each other and learn how architectural designs, building materials, and construction techniques have changed over the last 150 years. “

Art Rx

“People living with chronic pain and their family, friends, and caregivers are invited to explore the wonders of art and the creative mind. Participants enjoy the simple pleasure of viewing art in the Crocker’s galleries as a docent facilitates group conversations about select works. No prior art knowledge is necessary.  “

Playhouse and Playdough

“Families are invited to get creative with clay, inspired by the playful worlds of television and film. After viewing a selection of imaginative clips, children and caregivers will sculpt their own small characters, props, or settings. Drawing from colorful sets, puppetry, animation, and fantastical storytelling, participants will explore how moving-image art can spark creativity and personal expression. This hands-on session encourages families to connect what they see on screen with the unique creations they bring to life in clay. “

HomeSchool Day (Monthly)

“Explore the Crocker with a Museum experience designed specifically for homeschool students and parents. This drop-in program allows groups to structure their own experience—at their own pace, in the order they choose—while in community with other homeschoolers. Follow a customized map that highlights gallery and studio spaces where docents, educators, and teaching artists are ready with a discussion or activity centered around that day’s theme. Stay after the program to explore more of the Museum. “
