Day 6- Tokyo Disney Sea

Day 6

塩辛い海の空気、あなたの顔に吹く風。海にいるのに最適な日 - リトルマーメイド

Still euphoric and on that dopamine release from Disneyland, it was time to see the only water based Disney park on the planet, Disney Sea.

But, we had a couple of things to complete. First up, for anyone coming to Japan, many train stations, all the airports, and a majority of hotels have a service where they “forward your luggage” to your next location. It’s super cheap, and very convenient so you don’t have to carry around on the trains massive pieces of luggage.

Second item was eating at Latso’s Lounge, an all you can eat buffet. Very different eating experience from the hotel breakfast spots (kids vs no kids ).

So we jumped on the monorail, jumped in line, and were greeted by a massive spinning earth. Pretty quick again to get in. There are 7 themed lands or ports: Mediterranean Harbor which is like a mini Venice, gondolas and all; New York American Waterfront where the Tower of Terror is located along with a theater and famous deli; the Lost River Delta which has the Indiana Jones ride; Mermaid Lagoon based in Little Mermaid; Port Discovery that has a lot of Finding Nemo stuff; Mysterious Island in the center of the park, a giant Volcano that has a couple rides, Journey to the Center of the Earth and 20,000 leagues under the sea; the Arabian Coast aka Agrabah and Aladdin; and the newest land - Fantasy Springs that has Anna & Elsa’s Frozen in Arandelle, Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival in her Tangled tower, and Peter Pans Flight.

The attention to detail is stunning, from the old brick stones in Nee York, the colorful buildings in Venice. There’s the Columbia Cruise Ship, and the whirlpool’s under the volcano. There’s colorful domes are reminiscent of Istanbul, Dubai and Egypt. And then there’s Fantasy Springs. The rocks and waterfalls form sculptures of the character’s in the land. Frozen has a blue peak which made me think of Superman’s fortress in the arctic.

This park also had at least 10 different flavors of popcorn like garlic shrimp, pistachio, and matcha. Lines were incredibly long, as they were for all the different churros.

As far as rides, our first of the day was Journey to the Center of the Earth. You took a mining cart down the caves encountering random creatures. We were able to get on 20,000 leagues under the sea, based on the famous novel.

We skipped Toy Story Mania and Tower of Terror. Raging Spirits had a 140 minute wait, but we walked right on as single riders in less than 5 minutes. Sinbad’s adventure was an Arabian story , similar to the it’s a small world ride.

We jumped on Jazmine’s Flying Carpets and walked thru Ariel’s playground.

It was now time for the main events.

The first, Peter Pans Neverland Adventure. You board the ship, and follow him and Tinkerbell as the go thru London then out to Sea, saving the kids from Captain Hook. The visuals were incredible, and you can help but let your imagination run wild.

Next up, a bite to eat at the Royal Banquet of Arendelle, moose sculptures, and a greeting from Sven.

We queued up with our package passes, not having to wait for over 3 hours in the standby line. You enter the castle, boarding a boat that goes thru the snow capped mountains, telling the story of the sisters, and being captivated by Elsa accidentally freezing Anna. Olaf is also along for the ride, and a happy conclusion to the tale.

The cool thing about this boat is it goes forward and back, never really knowing what direction the ride will take you.

Last, one of the most visually stunning rides I’ve ever been on. Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival. It’s her experience of her hest day ever hanging out woth Flynn, culminating in front of thousands of lanterns sing the song I See the Light. It was gorgeous. I was awestruck. Tears streaming down my cheek.

We had tickets to the Indians Jones ride, but decided to beat the crowds back and head out. In the Venice Harbor, we came upon the water show, A Sky Full of Color, with boats showcasing all your favorite characters. It was like a combination of Fantasmic and World of Color.

Disney, you did it again. You made us feel like kids again, inspiring, happy, and content. There are no rides back home that can compare the Beauty and the Beast from day 1, or Peter Pan, Rapunzel’s of Frozen from day 2.

Cheers Tokyo Disney Resort, for showing us how magic can light up your world.
